The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) is revolutionising the way members access its services through GSIS Touch, a cutting-edge mobile application designed to enhance convenience and accessibility. This innovative app consolidates various services, allowing active members to manage their accounts without the need to visit physical branches.
The push for digital transformation is in line with the advocacy of President Bongbong Marcos, who emphasises the importance of bringing government services closer to the people and ensuring their availability around the clock. GSIS Tacloban has made significant strides in this direction, reporting that 58% of its target enrollment had been reached by last month, to achieve 70% by mid-year.
For first-time users of GSIS Touch, the setup process is straightforward. Users should begin by downloading and installing the app from the Google Play Store or the App Store.
Next, they need to sign up or log in. New users should choose “Sign up” and enter their Business Partner (BP) number and date of birth. After agreeing to the terms and conditions, users must verify their information and enter the One Time Pin (OTP) sent to their registered mobile number.
Following this, users should create an account by entering a username, setting a password, and completing the registration process. If their device supports biometrics, they can set them up for added convenience. Finally, users can log in and start using GSIS Touch to access a range of services tailored to meet their needs.
GSIS Touch allows members to access their records, explore loan options, apply for loans, track loan statuses and payments, and calculate potential claims. Additionally, members can apply for life and retirement benefits, receive notifications for premium and loan payments, and stay updated with the latest GSIS news.
The traditional UMID card is being phased out in favour of ATM cards from members’ chosen banks. These new cards will enable members to obtain loans and benefits, while the digital ID feature within GSIS Touch replaces the need for a physical UMID card.
The app also boasts improved compatibility with iPhone users, enhanced performance, and strengthened security features. GSIS Touch seamlessly integrates features from the Electronic GSIS Member Online (eGSISMO), Guide to Transactions and Processes (GTAP), and Annual Pensioners’ Information Revalidation (APIR) platforms. This integration ensures that members can perform essential tasks with ease, right from their mobile devices.
GSIS Touch has recently introduced several exciting features:
- Digital IDs: Members can now access digital versions of their IDs through the app.
- Online Enrollment System: The app facilitates a streamlined enrollment process.
- Electronic Collection for Agency Remittances: This feature simplifies the collection process for agency remittances.
- Digital Business Center: GSIS is transforming its traditional service centres into digital hubs.
- APIR through GSIS Touch: Annual revalidation for pensioners is now available through the app.
- GSIS Touch has been praised for its user-friendly interface and convenience. Regular employees find it particularly beneficial, as it simplifies the process of availing GSIS services and reduces the need for in-person transactions. GSIS encourages all active members to adopt the app for more efficient and convenient transactions, promising a significant transformation in the delivery of government services.
Earlier, GSIS had significantly enhanced member access to essential financial services through expanded online banking options. Members can manage ONLI premiums, insurance payments, service loans, and housing loans via platforms like LandBank, reflecting GSIS’s commitment to improving customer convenience and digital engagement.
The ONLI programme provides extensive insurance coverage for auto, fire, and personal injury, ensuring financial security via digital platforms. GSIS Touch has streamlined loan repayments, contributing to approximately US$ 500 million collected online, showcasing GSIS’s proactive use of technology to enhance member services and security.
