In the ever-evolving landscape of education, where digital technology and innovation play pivotal roles, Khon Kaen University Library has emerged as a leading institution dedicated to enhancing the learning experience for students and the broader community. Under the leadership of Associate Professor Dr Supat Sinawat, the library has embraced the challenge of integrating cutting-edge technologies into its services, thereby transforming the traditional library model into a dynamic hub of knowledge and digital exploration.

This commitment to digital innovation was prominently showcased when Dr Sinawat, along with his management team, was invited Digitalisation, Innovation, and Technology event in the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS), served as a vital platform for over 300 representatives from government agencies, private sectors, and academic institutions across Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia, and Southern China to discuss and explore new frontiers in digital technology and its application in various sectors.

Khon Kaen University Library’s involvement was not merely a symbolic gesture but a strategic move highlighting the institution’s commitment to driving digitalisation in education.

One of the standout features of the library’s participation was its booth. The booth was designed to showcase the library’s academic services and offer a glimpse into the future of education through the lens of digital technology.

The library’s innovative use of a virtual reality space where users can interact with a computer-generated environment and other users. This experience was crafted to demonstrate how educational content can be delivered more engaging and interactive, transcending traditional classroom settings’ limitations.

The virtual reality space experience allowed participants to explore virtual classrooms, libraries, and other educational spaces, highlighting how digital technology can create more inclusive and accessible learning environments.

In addition to the virtual reality space experience, Khon Kaen University Library introduced the GMS Wisdom Hub services, an initiative to consolidate and disseminate knowledge across the Greater Mekong Subregion. The GMS Wisdom Hub is a digital repository of academic resources, research materials, and cultural content, making it accessible to students, researchers, and educators throughout the region. By leveraging digital technology, the Wisdom Hub facilitates knowledge sharing and promotes cross-cultural understanding and collaboration, which are essential components in developing a sustainable learning society.

The library’s efforts in this area reflect a broader vision of creating a connected and informed community where knowledge flows freely across borders and technological barriers are dismantled.

As a Learning Centre for All, Khon Kaen University Library is aware of its role in supporting the community’s educational needs. The library’s digital initiatives are not just about adopting the latest technologies but fundamentally rethinking how education is delivered and accessed in the digital age. By embracing digital tools and platforms, the library is working to ensure that learning is not confined to physical spaces but is available to all, regardless of location or background.

The library’s participation in the forum also underscored its commitment to collaboration. By engaging with various organisations, including governmental bodies, academic institutions, and private sector partners, Khon Kaen University Library is building a network of support that is crucial for the success of its digital initiatives. These collaborations are vital for driving innovation, as they bring together diverse perspectives and resources, enabling the library to develop more effective and inclusive digital solutions.

Khon Kaen University Library is poised to continue its leadership in digital innovation within the educational sector. By focusing on digitalisation and innovation, the library is enhancing its services and contributing to the broader goal of building a sustainable learning society in the Greater Mekong Subregion.

The Khon Kaen University Library’s participation was a testament to its dedication to digital innovation and its vision for the future of education. Through initiatives like the virtual reality space experience and the GMS Wisdom Hub, the library is redefining what it means to be a learning institution in the digital age, paving the way for a more connected, informed, and sustainable society.
